Paint Chip Art

August 1, 2012

Since moving into our house 3+ years ago, we have painted every single room except two — and have acquired an insane amount of paint chips in the process. Decisive I have never been!  I need options, lots of options.

A few months ago I stumbled across some paint chip art on pinterest (such as this awesome project from one of my favorite blogs), inspiring my next little super-easy art project.

So here’s what I did.  Awhile ago I purchased this Martha Stewart punch on clearance.  I figured this was a great opportunity to put it to use.

I next assembled my paint chips and began punching (paint chips that is– no one was injured during this project). I decided to go with a blue theme to make some art for the entry way in our blue guest room.

After a few nights of punching paint chips in front of the TV (real housewives, anyone?), then came the fun part – assembling the paint chips. There was no system here – just trying to get some variation with the colors.

Once I liked my overall pattern, I simply mod podged them down and voila – another free art project for the walls of our guest bedroom.

I already had the blue frame hanging in the guest room so this project cost me absolutely nothing. While I may spray paint the frame white in the future, for now I am liking the blue.

I really like the way the frame looks against the blue walls.

So there you have it. Happy Wednesday everyone.  I will be back later this week with my big dining room reveal and to show off these little ditties in their new home!

Very cool! I like the punch idea!! I hadn’t thought of that one yet….I will have to see if weird shapes/swirls will work for that!

Thank you. I bet it would look really neat with other shapes. Let me know if you try it out. I would love to see your final product!
